Project Description

Blind Tiger

Idea

Blind Tiger was a student project which was inspired by the name. This was an open ended project to test our integrated branding design skills. I chose branding for a cocktail bar with the look and feel of a speakeasy. I began researching them and discovered from my reading that “Blind Tiger” along with “Blind Pig” were common nom de plumes given to speakeasies, and of the two I was more drawn to the Tiger.

Process

Once I knew this was going to be the name of my establishment the rest came easily. I pictured a roaring tiger with a blind fold and knew I wanted the rich warm colours, black, gold and red. Tigers as regal creatures and are often represented in fables as mysterious creatures. This played well into my theme of the cocktail bar.

Result

The era and the Art Deco design movement coincided with the look that I wanted for this brand. Business cards, menus, other collateral and the interior design of “Blind Tiger”  aimed to draw the customer in and to return again. I received a high mark for this.
